The Sustainable Living Initiative

Program Overview

The Sustainable Living Initiative is an educational program developed by the Opportunity & Equity Foundation to empower individuals with disabilities, their families, and the broader community with practical skills that promote food security, self-sufficiency, healthy living, and environmental stewardship through agriculture and education. The Foundation created this initiative to address barriers many individuals face in accessing healthy food, developing independent living skills, and exploring meaningful career opportunities. The program provides hands-on instruction that teaches participants how to grow, harvest, preserve, prepare, and sustainably produce their own food while learning lifelong skills that improve confidence, reduce household food expenses, and promote greater independence.
